Speare Celebrates the Power Within at 5th Annual Women’s Health Event

stock-image-of-women-300x199 Speare Celebrates the Power Within at 5th Annual Women’s Health Event “I am woman, hear me roar,” is the opening line of Helen Reddy’s 1971 song I am Woman, and her first number one hit.  The lyrics speak to women’s wisdom and inner strength which is the focus of  Speare Memorial Hospital’s fifth annual Wine, Women & Wisdom women’s health event on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at 5:00 p.m.  The event will be held at the Common Man Inn in Plymouth, and tickets are $10 each.  Advance ticket purchase is recommended as a limited number will be available at the door.

Purchase Tickets – PLEASE NOTE – Do to overwhelming ticket sales, as of 3/31 all remaining tickets will only be sold online.

Sponsored by Millennium Integrated Marketing, presenters this year are Dr. Erinn Fellner, psychiatrist with Speare Primary Care, and Leslie Sturgeon, founder of Women Inspiring Women.

Dr. Fellner’s presentation is Beyond Medications:  Alternative Strategies for managing stress and depression.  Stress management was identified by past attendees as the number one topic they would like addressed.  Symptoms of chronic stress include anxiety, depression, sleeplessness, digestive problems and weight gain, which can lead to other health problems if left unchecked.

And trying to be a Superwoman doesn’t help.  As Leslie Sturgeon says, “Most women suffer from an affliction called ‘Superwoman Complex.’ It’s that need to please, to be all things to all people, to solve everyone’s problems, to excel at everything she does, to be the best mom, the best wife, the best friend and daughter and to just be the best in all aspects of life.”

For her presentation, Behind the Cape:  Lessons learned from a recovering Superwoman, she will share strategies for how to hang up your cape and eliminate the superwoman mindset once and for all.

Doors open at 5 p.m., and a light supper buffet and wine tasting will be available.  Please bring tickets with you the night of the event.  In addition to your admission, tickets will also be able to be redeemed for an attendance gift. Should you have other questions, please contact Speare’s Director of Community Relations Michele Hutchins directly at (603) 238-6468.
