Changes Are Coming to NH Medicaid — and We're Here to Help You Through Them
If you or someone in your family relies on NH Medicaid, you may have heard that some changes are on the way.
We know news like this can feel unsettling. We want to share what we know and remind you that you don't have to figure it out alone.

What's Changing?

Starting July 1, 2026: Monthly Premiums
Some adults enrolled in the Granite Advantage program (Medicaid expansion) and some families with children enrolled in Medicaid CHIP will begin paying a monthly premium.
The amount will be based on income and family size.

Prescription Copays
Prescription copays for some Medicaid enrollees will increase from $2 to $4 per prescription.

Late 2026: More Frequent Eligibility Renewals
Adults enrolled in Medicaid expansion will begin renewing their eligibility every six months instead of once a year.
This change will apply to renewals scheduled on or after December 31, 2026.

Coming in the Months Ahead: Work & Community Engagement Requirements
New work and community engagement requirements will apply to some Medicaid enrollees.
The state is still finalizing the rules. You will be notified directly if these requirements apply to you.
Details on New Hampshire's intended approach to work requirements are expected to be available by January 2027.

Most Important: Your Coverage Continues Right Now
Your Medicaid coverage continues as usual right now.
These changes have not taken effect yet, and the state will notify you in advance if any of these changes apply to your situation.
If you have questions, are concerned about premiums, or aren't sure what these changes could mean for your care at Speare, we're here to help.
