Speare Memorial Hospital has been named one of the nation’s top hospitals for nurse communication by Becker’s Hospital Review, earning recognition for the exceptional care, compassion, and communication provided by its nursing team.

The recognition is based on patient experience data collected through the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey. The nurse communication rating reflects how patients feel their nurses listened carefully, explained information clearly, and treated them with courtesy and respect. Speare Memorial Hospital was one of only six New Hampshire hospitals to receive a five-star rating for nurse communication.

“We are incredibly proud of our nursing team for earning this recognition,” said Craig Williams, MBA, FACHE, President and CEO of Speare Memorial Hospital. “Every day, our nurses build meaningful relationships with patients and families through compassionate care, attentive listening, and clear communication. This recognition reflects their dedication to creating an exceptional patient experience.”

Nurses play a critical role in helping patients navigate their healthcare journey, from explaining treatments and answering questions to providing comfort during some of life’s most challenging moments. Effective communication not only improves the patient experience but also helps build trust and supports better health outcomes.

“This honor is a testament to the professionalism, empathy, and commitment our nurses bring to every patient interaction,” said [Chief Nursing Officer Name and Credentials]. “We are grateful to our patients for sharing their experiences and to our nursing staff for continually demonstrating what patient-centered care looks like.”

Becker’s Hospital Review recently recognized 567 hospitals nationwide that achieved five-star ratings for nurse communication based on CMS data collected between July 2024 and June 2025. Speare Memorial Hospital was among the hospitals recognized for excellence in this important measure of patient experience.

Speare Memorial Hospital remains committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care and fostering an environment where every patient feels heard, respected, and supported throughout their healthcare experience.
