There are many ways to make a carefully planned, meaningful legacy gift to Speare Memorial Hospital through:

  • Your Will (sample bequest language provided below)
  • A Retirement Plan or IRA
  • A Trust
  • A Life Insurance Policy

A History of Giving

In the early 1900s, Helen M. Clark made the decision to include a gift to Speare Memorial Hospital in her will. Her bequest, one of the first received by Speare, came at a pivotal time in the hospital’s history. When a devastating fire in 1916 destroyed the original hospital building, Helen Clark’s bequest provided the initial funds needed to build a new hospital.

Since then, many friends have included Speare Memorial Hospital in their estate plans. These planned gifts – some large, some small – help to fund new programs, healthcare services, medical equipment and, as Helen Clark’s bequest once did, new buildings.
