Deanna Brodie, LPN and safety director of Speare Memorial Hospital's Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine CenterDeanna Brodie, LPN, one of Speare Memorial Hospital’s Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine Center’s hyperbaric technicians, earned the Certified Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT) certification from the National Board of Diving & Hyperbaric Medical Technology on April 8, 2016.

Brodie, who is also the wound care center’s Safety Director, began working for Speare’s Wound Care & Hyperbaric Center in February 2014 after receiving extensive training in hyperbaric medicine.

“We are so pleased to announce that Deanna Brodie LPN has obtained her Certified Hyperbaric Technician certification making her the expert on operating the Hyperbaric Oxygen chambers in our clinic.” said Program Director, Rebecca Sayre, “Deanna is a passionate and caring nurse who will go the extra mile to meet the needs of our patients. This is so important when seeing patients day in and day out as they undergo Hyperbaric Oxygen treatments.  In addition to being a tremendous patient advocate, she is also very safety conscious and also leads the team here at Speare in safety education as she fulfills her responsibilities of Safety Director.  We are very proud of Deanna!  It is an honor to have her as a part of our team!”

Speare Memorial Hospital’s Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine Center, managed by Healogics™, provides specialized treatment for chronic or non-healing wounds, which are defined as sores or wounds that have not significantly improved from conventional treatments. Associated with inadequate circulation, poorly functioning veins, and immobility, non-healing wounds lead to lower quality of life and may lead to amputations. When wounds persist, a specialized approach is required for healing. Typically, a wound that does not respond to normal medical care within 30 days is considered a problem or chronic wound.

Speare’s Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine Center is located just inside the emergency room entrance from the Avery St. parking lot and offers state-of-the-art treatment including two hyperbaric chambers designed to use oxygen therapy through a pressurized, oxygen-rich environment that stimulates the growth of new vessels and improved circulation to ensure faster healing and shorter recovery while restoring health and mobility. It offers the most advanced treatment available for serious, chronic wounds. The center’s evidence-based and nationally recognized approach helps speed recovery so patients can return to the activities they enjoy.
