PLYMOUTH, NH – October 2025 — Speare Memorial Hospital has once again earned national recognition for excellence in patient care. The hospital’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Program has been recertified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR), a distinction that underscores Speare’s commitment to helping patients with heart disease live healthier, more active lives.

The AACVPR certification recognizes programs that meet the highest standards for quality and safety in cardiovascular rehabilitation. To achieve recertification, programs must demonstrate excellence in patient outcomes, evidence-based practices, and comprehensive patient care.

Speare’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Program supports individuals recovering from heart attacks, coronary artery bypass surgery, and other cardiac events. Through a combination of supervised exercise, education, and emotional support, patients build strength and confidence while making lasting lifestyle changes.

Most participants attend sessions three days a week for six to eight weeks. Each patient receives a personalized exercise plan designed around their medical history, goals, and fitness level, with continuous heart monitoring to ensure safety and measure progress.

Education is also a key part of the program, with classes covering topics such as understanding heart disease, managing risk factors, medications, nutrition, and exercise.

“This recertification represents the dedication and expertise of our cardiopulmonary team,” said Craig Johnson, CEP, CCT, cardiology supervisor at Speare Memorial Hospital. “Our goal is to help every patient return to the activities they love with confidence and to empower them with the tools to live healthier, longer lives.”
