Speare Memorial Hospital Expands Gastroenterology Services with Dr. Jonathan Lamphier at Plymouth General Surgery
On October 22 Speare Memorial Hospital celebrated Healthcare Quality and Infection Prevention Week. This was a time to celebrate all the hard work and focus everyone at Speare provides to these efforts. Infection prevention is everyone’s job. Each of us has an important role to play in keeping our patients safe from infection—and hand hygiene is key!
Our team from the Quality and Infection Prevention Department ran fun, informative learning exercises on infection prevention and also hosted, with help from our volunteers, a Brownie Challenge and raffle to raise funds for our 3D Mammography Campaign Fund.
Melissa M. Howard BS, RN CPHQ, Director of Quality, IP, Service Excellence said “Since October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month it was an appropriate time to hold this function so that women in our community will benefit from the proceeds going towards 3D Mammography. Early detection saves lives, and YOU all help make that difference.”
Many entered the raffle to win the quilted bag handmade by volunteer Ethel Cahoon and over 20 staff members entered the Brownie Challenge with flavors from traditional chocolate to pumpkin pie. The event raised $371.
